How to write a good essay

It is rightly said, "The scariest moment is always just before you start." Once you start writing, it becomes even easier; you start thinking from various perspectives; you start getting new ideas; and many more.

When you want to showcase your ideas to the world, you write an essay. When you want to criticize someone's ideology, you write an essay. You can write an essay when you encounter some painful or embarrassing situation.

Here are seven tips to help you write great essays:

1. Read the topic carefully, analyze it, and jot down the points that come to your mind.

2. Give a lucid introduction.

3. Refer to various sources and expand your knowledge.

4. Organise your thoughts.

5. Write using simple words.

6. Give evidence and data and cite examples.

7. Give a strong conclusion.

Read the topic at least 2-3 times, and try to understand what is being asked and what is expected of you. Sometimes, when the topic is too vague, you can interpret the topic in a way that seems correct and stick to that interpretation throughout the essay. It gives a very wrong impression when you interpret the topic in a certain way in one paragraph and then deviate from it in the other. Then the next step is to jot down the points that come to your mind related to the topic. Then organize it systematically. While changing a paragraph, there must be a link or some connecting dot between the two paragraphs. The transition between the paragraphs should not be abrupt.

Moving on to the introduction part, it may contain a definition, some facts or data, any quote, anecdote, or, as mentioned above, interpretation, which you make when a vague topic is given. It is a very important part of your essay as the examiner or the reader comes to know whether you have a relevant idea about the topic and it is the deciding factor on whether they will read further or not. An ideal introduction should grab the attention of the reader so that the reader is motivated to read further.

Going further to the main body, it should have rich content. It is suggested to read more and more to plug in rich content. Expanding your knowledge and referring to various sources helps you add to your content. Write in an organized manner about various perspectives that you derive from the topic. For clarity, try to write every topic in a different paragraph, and as mentioned above, connect it to the previous paragraph. It should reflect the clarity of thought that every reader looks for. Try not to use too much-embellished language. Use simple language. Write short sentences. You can rewrite article using the article reword tool to make your content plagiarism free and grammatically correct. Long winding sentences make it difficult for the reader to read and understand. Clear writing is clear thinking.

Do not focus excessively on one point, try to be multi-dimensional. Give pieces of evidence, data, or some examples to support your arguments. You can also add some quotations. It is advised to make a list of some important quotes on various topics that you come across through different sources like newspapers or magazines. You can also jot down some power lines. It gives an edge to your essay.

You don't have to learn complex words to write a good essay. Avoid using scientific terminology. If it becomes necessary to use them, write a few lines explaining it so that the reader understands the context you are talking about or want to convey. Don't use words whose meaning is not clear to you. Use simple but powerful words. It doesn't mean that you should not discover and add new words to your vocabulary.

The conclusion should always be on an optimistic note. It may be a gist of everything you explained in the essay, with a solution at last, or a futuristic vision. It is the last chance when you can prove why your argument is justified with some powerful sentences and also give evidence to further convince the reader of your point. You can also give some new insight to impress the examiner or reader.

I hope it helps you! Practice makes a man perfect. Try to write essays regularly so that you become comfortable with them. Try to be creative and increase your analytical abilities. Be dedicated and consistent in reading about new topics.
